Profile was founded in 1998 by Steve Ehmann. Built from the ground up, Steve and his Team started with no facility or equipment and grew Profile into a film and bag extrusion company with an extraordinary focus on taking care of our Team and our customers. Along the way, Profile has earned a leading position in the food packaging industry, in addition to serving multiple other markets. Regardless of application, Profile is passionate about delivering exceptional service.
Profile Over The Years…
1998
Profile Films was founded by Steve Ehmann with the help of some key partners on April 1st, 1998. We started with three extrusion lines, producing high quality industrial packaging for the automotive and furniture industries.
2005
Profile began its long-standing partnership with a local Refugee Resettlement agency. Through this partnership, we have hired over 100 newly arrived refugees from 25 different countries.
2009
We launched our custom Manufacturing Execution System (MES), developed in-house, tailored to Profile’s specific manufacturing processes.
2014
Profile purchased a historic, vacant manufacturing plant and started restoration and renovation of the building to be our new manufacturing facility. At this time, Steve’s eldest son Alex Ehmann joins the business.
2015
We rebranded from Profile Industrial Packaging to Profile Films.
2016
We moved into our new manufacturing facility on the Northwest side of Grand Rapids, MI. This GFSI compliant facility allowed us to obtain a BRCGS certification.
2019
Profile Films was awarded the ACG Western Michigan Outstanding Growth Award. At this time, Steve’s youngest son Teddy Ehmann enters the business joining the Sales team.
2020
We shifted our annual Christmas party, which was usually indoors, to be outside on our front lawn so that we could still get together during the holidays. In 2024, we resumed our indoor Christmas parties!
2023
Profile reached 200 employees for the first time marking continued growth for the company. Profile purchased an additional 9-acre property & is developing plans to expand production capacity.
2024
We continued to invest in our people with the expansion of the employee break area and entrance referred to as the “Profile Commons.”
Founded with a passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience.
